If you have work injuries, what can, and should, you do? Who can you turn to? And what can’t you do? Here’s a brief summary of what to do if you receive work injuries.
- If you’re unable to work following an injury, whether serious or minor, you may be eligible for a portion of your lost wages
- You don’t have to return to work until you’re able to do your job
- You should file your claim right away
- You are likely not entitled to use your own doctor, but rather one whom your employer chooses
- You can find yourself a lawyer who will save you money and guide you through the while complicated process
- Mediation is a great option that saves you months or even years, and in which the insurance company will recommend to you a fair compensation offer
- Watch out for local laws, which can reduce your awarded dollar amount
- Also watch out for efforts to blame you for the accident that injured you. The more you are to blame, the less compensation you will receive
