With over 40,000 different divorce papers to choose from when looking for divorce forms, you may feel emotionally overwhelmed, especially when you are already devastated at losing your spouse and the life you thought you two would have together for decades to come. But it can be easier with this quick checklist:
- Do you know what you want from your divorce?
- Are the divorce papers you are considering using in accordance with the court and its procedures?
- Have you researched your district’s divorce laws?
- Have you looked into free or low cost local divorce help?
- Do you know which divorce papers you need to file for your divorce?
- Are you going to use a divorce attorney, or go it alone?
- Have you read the disclaimers on websites that offer helpful advice?
- Similar to the above question, why are you divorcing?
- Do you have all your finances recorded in an orderly manner for your divorce attorney and/or divorce papers?
- Do you have a somewhat complete history of you, your spouse and your children?
It is very important to have all of the above information if you are looking for the right divorce papers.
